Three seasons of Junior “A” hockey. Jason has been involved with the Hockey Canada/Saskatchewan Hockey Association specialty skills instructor and mentor coach for the past 5 season. Jason is a HP1 and NCCP level III Coach. His passion has come from his dad, Danny, who signed a contract with the Boston Bruins, back in the original 6 days and he was a great coach. He was a major factor in starting up minor hockey in Ponteix, SK in 1968 and later in Meadow Lake. In Meadow Lake he ran all the minor hockey practices in the 70's early 80's. We would do on-ice circuit training/skills stations once or twice a week (initiation thru juvenile). He was quite an innovator, at one station we attached ourselves to tarp straps, (the black rubber ones with the S-hooks crimped onto one another) to work on resistance skating/quick starts. When he was 15 his dad told him, “Backcheck or barley dust” as I left for camp in Prince Albert. Prince Albert sent me to Kelly McCrimmon in North Battleford to play for the Northstars.
